The Rev. Carol A. Foltz has been the associate pastor at Friedland since February 2001. She was the first woman ordained in the Southern province of the Moravian Church. and has served in a variety of ministry situations for 30 years. She has served as pastor of several congregations, interim pastor and director of Youth ministry for the Southern province. She also served as a champlain at Baptist Hospital. Her personal faith statement is that serving Jesus Christ has made life a wondrous adventure. She felt the call to service while in college and this led to a call to ordained ministry while she attended theological seminary. Since accpeting the call she has found God to be faithful and to always provide a place of service. As she takes seriously the call to make disciples, she realizes that understanding oneself is a very important part of serving Christ in the modern world. "I realize that there are times when I bring something to a relationship that might be difficult for others, I need to be open to looking at myself in order to how I can effect an outcome. It's like Jesus said, 'take the log out of your eye before you try to remove the spec from your neighbor's eye.' It's about being authentic and transparent in ministry" Her deep passion is helping people develop depth in their spiritual walk and working with young people. "I am always amazed at the openness our young people have to God. They believe. I hope to be able to help them build their souls and character so that when they move away from us, they will continue to serve Christ with their lives." Her hobby is animal training and connection. She has had two dogs serve in pet assisted activities in hospital, retirement center and camp settings. At this time, her border collie, Rainbow, is always ready to work with a group. |
